Synopsis

Based on the original 1994 Mexican Telenovela of the same name, Marimar is a young Anglo-Mexican girl who falls in love with Sergio, a young law student. But their happiness is cut short when her grandparents are murdered by a mysterious arsonist and they are arrested. Once they reunite in the city of Bristol, both take on new identities to avenge themselves against those who ruined their lives, including Sergio's fugitive father and sister, solve a string of murders and uncover a past that not only brings them closer, but leads them on a mission they never imagined: To save their native England.

Description of Julia Young Santibañez (Mrs. Santibañez):

The late mother of Sergio and adoptive mother of Angelica, Julia was the daughter of the distinguished naval architect Alistair Young. She met Renato when she was working at the British Embassy in Mexico City. Their romance was in introducing Renato's surrogate sister Yolanda to Julia's friend Gustavo Aldama, thus resulting in the birth of Marimar and Angelica. Julia died years before Sergio met Marimar. She and Marimar's Abuelita are the namesakes of her granddaughter Julia Cruzita.
