With the imminent destruction of Krypton, their home planet, Jor-El and his wife seek to preserve their race by sending their infant son to Earth. The child's spacecraft lands at the farm of Jonathan and Martha Kent, who name him Clark and raise him as their own son. Though his extraordinary abilities have led to the adult Clark living on the fringe of society, he finds he must become a hero to save those he loves from a dire threat.read more

ringothedrummer Differences from the original: -Superman acts more like Superman, and not like some metaphorical Jesus figure -Christopher Meloni now plays Lex Luthor, because why the hell not -Jonathan Kent is more like how he is in the comics (and doesn’t die by a tornado) -Superman doesn’t kill Zod, but instead Zod gets himself killed -The color palette is much brighter -Zod gets to say “You will kneel before me!” (More differences to be added. Feel free to suggest some)

nathanbates Takes me back to the good ol’ Man of Steel pre production speculation days. Lots of people thought Meloni was not-so-secretly Luthor. Oh, to be young again.

nathanbates @sonictiger do people really have much of an issue with Amy as Lois? I don’t think she had much to work with over the span of 3 movies but I still enjoy her presence in each time. I like the idea of Lois being a bit older than Clark too.

sonictiger @nathanbates sorry, her performance really rubs me the wrong way. It feels flat, and there's a noticeable lack of chemistry. I think Anne Hathaway, Zoe Saldana, or Mary Elizabeth Winstead would have all been better fits.

lorog The Choice of Christopher Meloni being Lex Luthor is way Better than Jessie Eisenberg, like seriously he doesn't feel like Lex, and Meloni does.

castingsinmyblood @parzivaljoker A lot of wealthy people and moguls like to use corniness as a selling point. George W. Bush played up his Good ol' boyness during his campaigns as a means of making himself seem more down to earth and approachable, one account claims that Walt Disney "played the role of a bashful tycoon who was embarrassed in public" and knew that he was doing so. Donald Trump, John Lasseter, so many people use humor or corniness as a way to make themselves seem presentable or likable to the public. And going into the movie with the knowledge of who Lex will become makes us realize just how phoney it is. And in my book, Lex has always been like that. Even in the DCAU, Bruce Timm states their Luthor is a "thug who wants to be treated as a Baron". Lex's charm has always only been skin deep. I just think Eisenberg is the first time it wasn't gussied up in some way.
