Dr Jumba Jookiba is arrested for his illegal expirimentations. The Galactic Council takes his experiment, dubbed “626”, to banish it to a deserted asteroid. However, 626 hijacks a spaceship that randomly sets a course for Hawaii, on planet Earth, where he crash lands and is knocked out unconscious and taken to an animal shelter. Jumba is partnered with Agent Pleakley to capture 626. A young girl named Lilo adopts 626, posing as a dog, and named him “Stitch”.
