Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return is a 2013 animated musical fantasy film that is loosely based on the 1989 book Dorothy of Oz by L. Frank Baum's great-grandson Roger Stanton Baum.In the Land of Oz, the Emerald City’s leaders—the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly Lion—are in crisis when an evil Jester steals the Wicked Witch of the West's broomstick and controls the Flying Monkeys. The Scarecrow summons Dorothy Gale, but the Flying Monkeys invade the castle. Dorothy and Toto are transported to Oz. They meet Wiser, a wise but flightless owl, and find themselves in Candy Country, where they are arrested. With the help of Marshal Mallow, who joins them, they navigate through various challenges, including a dangerous journey through Dainty China Country, where they face the vain China Princess. As the Jester uses his magical scepter to control Oz’s leaders,Dorothy and her friends finally reach the Emerald City, only to be attacked by Flying Monkeys. After a perilous adventure, including a dramatic rooftop confrontation and a fight with the Flying Monkeys, Dorothy manages to defeat the Jester by using her magic to destroy his staff and sending him into a tornado. Dorothy and Toto return to Kansas, where they expose and stop a fraudulent appraiser who was evicting the townsfolk. With the townspeople’s homes rebuilt and order restored, Dorothy and her friends find resolution and peace.
