Synopsis

Less than 500 years ago, when the factious infighting that beset Japan required reconnaissance, intelligence and spying in order to ascertain who exactly one's enemies were or might be in the near future, ninjas were at the top of the list. But for centuries, ninjas have gone dark. Now, in the 21st century, that is about to change. In a country so ancient, as well as so connected, the ninja are beginning to make a comeback, birthed from certain Yakuza sectors. And now, one ninja must navigate a new era of Feudal Japan, while overcoming his own conflicts within.

Description of Satoru Shirohara (Kage No Kodomo):

The son and heir of Sojiro Shirohara, the master of the Shirohara ninja clan, Satoru Shirohara is a highly skilled and dangerous assassin. As his father's heir, Satoru's goal is to take over his father's position as leader of the clan. Satoru uses a wide variety of martial arts and can perform deadly techniques without any hesitation whatsoever. He is formidable, intimidating, and but also shy and attentive, preferring to stand off to the sidelines and observe from afar, which in turn makes him the perfect assassin. He also has a long and complicated history with the Shirohara clan and an even longer and more complicated history with his father.
