Synopsis

Less than 500 years ago, when the factious infighting that beset Japan required reconnaissance, intelligence and spying in order to ascertain who exactly one's enemies were or might be in the near future, ninjas were at the top of the list. But for centuries, ninjas have gone dark. Now, in the 21st century, that is about to change. In a country so ancient, as well as so connected, the ninja are beginning to make a comeback, birthed from certain Yakuza sectors. And now, one ninja must navigate a new era of Feudal Japan, while overcoming his own conflicts within.

Description of Hayami Kiyamasa (The Sparrow):

Hayami Kiyamasa was a young orphaned girl that was taken in by the ruthless Okura ninja clan, one of the many ninja clans fighting for power in Japan. She was forced to endure the cruelest of training under the mysterious Sakai Okura, who would often punish her for the slightest of infractions. She did however find warmth and companionship in another young recruit named Kamiya Kasshin, who acted like an older sister to Haymai and was willing to protect her at all costs. At the age of 18, they tried to escape but were hunted down by the clan. Hayami made it out alive, while Kamiya was not so lucky. Hayami was on the run ever since until she met Satoru Shirohara in Los Angeles one night...
