In the film, following the events of Batman v Superman: World's Finest (2007) and The Dark Knight (2008) Batman and Superman recruit The Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern and Martin Manhunter to save the world from the catastrophic threat of Lex Luthor, Joker, Ares and Cheetah. Justice League: Mortal premiered in Los Angeles on October 13, 2008, and was released in the United States on November 4. The film received praise for Miller's direction and screenplay, visual effects, action sequences, acting, and musical score.
