In World War II, the Justice Society of America stopped the immortal Vandal Savage from using technology from the future to take over the world, but many members of the group were killed. Currently Savage has managed to open a new portal to the future to get a new weapon of mass destruction, causing Amanda Waller to recruit new members for the JSA to stop Savage's plans before it's too late.
