Fan Casting Hero in John Carpenter's Fallout

The Hero is a restless, 20-something dreamer trapped in Vault 13's manufactured 1950s simulation. An Assistant Vault Supervisor who inspects the G.E.C.K. and dreams of catching real fish, he causes public disturbances protesting his prefabricated life. Uncomfortable with firearms and reliant on intellect over bravado, he is thrust into leadership when the water chip fails. His arc transforms him from a naive vault dweller grieving his friend's death into a decisive leader who mercy-kills an infected ally and makes impossible choices. He evolves from a boy questioning authority to the man who defies it, ultimately becoming the reluctant Adam of a fragile new Eden.
