Joni Watkins has lived in Amity her entire life. She is best friends with Delyla Rafferty, and befriends Annie when she moves to town. Her father is Francis Watkins who is the mayor of Amity Beach and the younger brother of the first victim of the 1975 attacks, Chrissie Watkins. Due to her aunts brutal death, Joni’s dad made a rule to close the beach after sundown. Despite her fathers wishes, Joni often breaks the rules. One night, she invites Annie to crash a rich kid’s yacht party with Delyla. Joni is quirky, smart, and kind.
