Decades after a rogue shark beleaguered the small seaside community of Amity, a similar incident occurs; setting in motion a series of horrific attacks that leave residents reeling. Shark conservationists prevent bounty hunters from finding the menace, and the legendary oceanographer Matt Hooper is caught in the middle of the terror once again. This time the stakes are even higher as Hooper must choose between saving the shark and destroying his reputation, or fighting and killing a mutated beast that will stop at nothing to attack everything and anything in the water.
