Jester, whose real name he keeps a secret, is the royal court jester. His duties include dancing, singing lais, and entertaining the denizens of the castle with his quick wit (although many of his jokes fly over their heads). He has a close friendship with Jane and is even revealed to harbor romantic feelings for her. Jester's cleverness sometimes helps her get out of tough situations.
