In 1994 Antonio Inoki, a Japanese politician and former wrestler, facing allegations of involvement in organized crime, came up with a shocking plan to boost his approval ratings. Host a major wrestling event with Japanese and American talent in the isolated hermit kingdom of North Korea. He contacted WCW head Eric Bischoff who immediately jumped at the opportunity and enlisted his top wrestler Ric Flair to headline the event along with Inoki.
