The series slightly reimagines the origins of the Turtles, tying them deeply to many of their enemies and allies. This incarnation of the turtles is based on the longest running comic series in their history created by IDW, and this can be seen in both the large web of characters, as well as the growth of the main players. More recently, the number of mutants has been greatly expanded, both friends and foes, and the turtles have had to reevaluate what their family looks like.
