Robbie Reyes, a mechanic and his younger brother Gabe attempt to move into a safe neighborhood but can't afford it. Robbie decides to join a street race to win $50,000 dollars. During the race, Robbie is unaware that the car he is using is inhabited by a ghost. As he gets to first place, he gets chased down by what he thinks to be the police. He accidentally drives into a dead end and gets shot and burned to death. After the killers leave, the ghost posses Robbie and turns him into the Ghost Rider. Robbie hunts down his killers and is able to kill a handful of them, while others get away.
