Synopsis

Henry V is a historical play by William Shakespeare. It dramatizes the story of King Henry V of England and focuses on Henry's exploits before and after the Battle of Agincourt, when Henry V invades France (after being insulted by the French Dauphin) to claim the throne he believes is rightfully his.

Description of The Dauphin (Louis, Duke of Guyenne):

The son of the king of France and heir to the throne. He is headstrong and overconfident, more inclined to mock the English than to make preparations to fight them. He also mocks Henry, making frequent mention of the king’s irresponsible youth.
