In Depression-era Kansas, a woman caring for her family falls under the influence of the enigmatic Tabernacle Church of Christ. The Great Depression stole the life of comfort and safety Delilah Tiernan expected to live. Now she’s struggling to keep her two younger siblings and sick mother alive, praying to a God she isn’t sure she believes in for a miracle. One comes when Milton Kress, an attractive stranger, knocks at her door and promises the keys to eternal life if she joins him at the Tabernacle Church of Christ. When Delilah begins attending services with her family, she learns that the church intends to establish a new Eden in Idyllwild, California, where they will live as God's chosen people. As Delilah becomes entwined in the Tabernacle's core membership, she realizes that all is not as it seems and begins to wonder if their utopian goals are in reach or if it's all a mirage.
