Synopsis

"Heathers" revolves around the tumultuous high school life of Veronica Sawyer, played by Winona Ryder. Veronica is initially part of the popular clique led by three girls, all named Heather. Tired of the Heathers' oppressive behaviour, Veronica befriends a rebellious new student, Jason "J.D." Dean, played by Christian Slater. As their relationship deepens, they embark on a spree of violence, accidentally causing the death of Heather Chandler. They stage it as a suicide, but as J.D.'s destructive tendencies escalate, Veronica realizes the extent of his madness. The plot explores themes of teenage angst, social hierarchy, and the consequences of unchecked power, culminating in a plan by J.D. to blow up the school and frame it as a mass suicide, which Veronica attempts to thwart. The film is a dark comedy that satirizes high school dynamics and societal pressures.
