Fan Casting Hershel Greene in HBO's The Walking Dead

He is the father of Maggie, Billy and Shawn. Hershel is a religious farmhand and former veterinarian, making him a vital asset to the group. Despite suffering numerous tragedies which result in the loss of many of his children, Hershel's faith remains unshaken, often causing minor conflict between him and his surviving family. He owns a farm outside of Atlanta which he tends to. Hershel later becomes a member of the prison group committee along with Rick, Dale, and Tyreese. During the assault on the prison, Hershel is finally broken after the death of his last son, Billy, and allows himself to be killed with no resistance.
