Synopsis
A sequel to David Gordon Green's 2018 Halloween film. The film begins on October 31, 1978, Dr. Sam Loomis has his back turned to us as he investigates the spot on the ground that Michael once laid in. Police arrive on the scene, one of the deputies stop to check on Dr. Loomis, he ignores the deputy and continues to stare at the ground where Michael's shot-up body once was. In the background, a couple of officers help a slightly injured and severely shocked Laurie Strode out of the house. Another officer walks up to Dr. Loomis and frantically asks him, "Where is he? The girl said you shot him six times!?". Dr. Loomis continues to stare at the ground. The officer decides to look down. A body imprint can be seen in the wet ground, six small blood puddles sit within it. The screen goes black and the opening credits begin. It is now the early morning of November 3, 2018. Two days have passed since Michael Myers returned to Haddonfield on Halloween night in 2018. The new acting Sheriff, Billy Morris, arrives at Karen's home to talk to Laurie, Karen, and Allyson about the events that occurred a couple days prior. He informs them that Michael's body was completely burned-up during the fire. An entire investigation had occurred at Laurie's destroyed house over the last two days, and the investigators came to the conclusion that Michael was entirely cremated. Laurie knows this is not true. She starts panicking. She knows that the reason they didn't find Michael's body was because he escaped. Karen and Allyson calm her down. The new acting Sheriff leaves, but before doing so, he suggests to Karen and Allyson that they keep their crazy mother/grandmother under control. Meanwhile, an elderly couple from the town over, calls the Haddonfield police department to report that a pair of severely charred mechanic overalls from the Haddonfield Stop-N-Shop was discovered in their front yard. Police officers arrive to check out the situation. While investigating, one of the deputies finds pieces of a white melted mask in the elderly couple's backyard creek. Special crime scene members are brought in to remove the evidence. The entire situation is kept secret. Haddonfield police hires a Forensic Force Agent, William Valmir, to discover and locate Michael Myers. Valmir begins his studies. Almost one year has passed, it is now October 30, 2019. Laurie has returned to seeing her psychologist and has received excellent care. She has properly rebuilt her relationship with Karen and Allyson. She also has recently purchased the house next to Karen's. Valmir has nearly gone mad trying to locate Michael. He has had absolutely no luck. Haddonfield has been able to keep the situation a secret, and everyone, including Laurie, believes Michael is dead. Allyson has a new boyfriend, Craig. She goes on a date with him that night. They see a movie and then decide to "mess around" in the car afterwards. Before doing anything "fun", Allyson notices movement behind a fence on the opposite side of the parking lot. She insists that Craig goes over and looks behind it. Craig walks up to the fence, thinking it is one of his friends, saying things like "Okay, you fucking perv! The fun is over!". Craig disappears behind the fence. He never returns. Allyson gets out of the car and starts to walk over. She knows that someone is playing a trick on her. As she cuts the corner, she sees Craig's body hanging from a hook at the top of the fence. The hook on the fence goes through the back of his head and sticks out of his mouth. Allyson screams and turns around to run. She goes face first into Michael Myers and falls backwards. Another couple, making-out in their car, notices Michael chasing Allyson down. Allyson is on the ground trying to get away. The teen boy gets out of his car and yells at Michael, "Hey! Dude! Leave her alone!". Michael turns his attention toward him. Michael approaches the boy. The boy, a jock, tries to act tough. Michael sticks his hand through the boy's throat and then slams his head through the windshield. The girl in the car begins screaming and crying. Allyson is able to get up and run away. Michael turns and watches Allyson run away. Allyson is trying to call Karen and Laurie on her cellphone, but can't get service. She continues running until she sees Sheriff Billy's patrol car. She tells him what she saw. Billy calms her down and places her in the back of his car. Instead of taking her home, he takes her to the police station. He informs her that they know that Michael is still alive, but they have been trying to keep it a secret. Allyson gives the Sheriff the location that she encountered Michael. Billy locks her into one of the jail cells and tells her to keep her mouth shut. Sheriff Billy and Haddonfield deputies take off to try to capture Michael. They arrive and only find the three dead bodies. Meanwhile, Allyson has rigged up a stick to try to reach through the jail cell and pull the police station phone over to her. Billy calls Valmir and informs him that Michael is in Haddonfield. Michael is long gone from the movie theater, he is now headed toward the neighborhoods. Billy picks Valmir up and heads in that direction. While they are driving, a dispatch comes in over the radio stating that a local thrift store has a reported that someone broke in and stole a white-powdered Halloween mask and a pair of navy overalls. Michael has arrived at Karen's house and is stalking it from the outside. Allyson is able to pull the phone over towards her. She calls her mother. She gets no answer. She then calls her grandmother. Laurie answers. Allyson frantically tells her everything that has happened. While on the phone, Laurie looks out her window and stares right into the eyes of Michael. He looks away from Laurie and enters Karen's house. Laurie drops the phone, grabs a gun, and runs toward Karen's. The door is wide open. She enters the house and it is silent. She yells for Karen. Laurie carefully investigates each room. There is no sign of Karen or Michael. She goes upstairs. She opens a closet door to find Karen crying and bleeding. Michael appears behind them. Karen is too scared to scream. Michael stabs Laurie in the shoulder. But he can stab again, Sheriff Billy arrives at the top of the stairs and shoots Michael. He goes flying into the next room. He goes into the dark room to shoot him again. Sheriff Billy walks back out of the room, moments later, with a knife sticking out of his chest. Valmir steps in and grabs the gun from the dying Sheriff's hands. He fires a shot into the darkness of the room. Laurie and Karen go downstairs and walks out the door. Valmir, still upstairs, enters the dark room. He fights with Michael. As Laurie and Karen begin walking outside, Valmir and Michael's bodies go flying out of the upstairs window and land on the ground in front of Laurie and Karen. Allyson arrives with a gun to a deputies head. She managed to escape the cell and force a deputy to drive her over. Valmir is dead. Laurie reaches down and removes Michael's mask. To her, and the audience's surprise, it is actually the real Michael Myers. There hasn't been any twists or mess-ups. Laurie grabs a hatchet from Karen's shed. She cuts Michael's head off. Police arrive and take Laurie into custody. Allyson is reunited with her mother. "Mister Sandman" begins playing while the end credits roll.
