The film opens with a flashback to the Titanomachy, where Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades defeat the Titans with the help of their siblings. Hades is promised an equal share of the cosmos, but Zeus tricks him into ruling the Underworld, claiming it’s an "honorable" position. Hades reluctantly accepts, but over time, he grows bitter and isolated, watching his siblings thrive on Mount Olympus while he is surrounded by death and despair.
