In "Green Lantern Corps," the noble guardians of the universe, the Oan Guardians, deploy the Manhunters, emotionless machines programmed to maintain order. However, a betrayal by the rogue Oan Krona leads to the Manhunters' reprogramming, instigating a genocidal campaign against organic life. This betrayal ignites a conflict between the Manhunters and the Guardians, resulting in the Guardians' creation of the Green Lantern Corps as a replacement police force.
