Narrated by the unknown, omniscient blogger "Gossip Girl", the series revolves around the lives of privileged upper-class adolescents living in São Paulo. The series begins with the return of teenage "it girl" Sonia Valente from a mysterious absence. She is reunited with her frenemy Beatriz Waldorf and her mother Liliana, and she also meets Daniel Hernandes—an aspiring writer from Osasco who is one of Sonia's main love interests throughout the show. Other main characters include Nuno Araújo, Carlos Batista, Justina Hernandes, Valeria Abril, Ronaldo Hernandes and Isabel Dias.
