A Russian Mafia boss/club owner who, as a young man, served in the revolution as a Menshevik in opposition to the Red communists, as well as giving passage to defectors crossing the Berlin Wall until he along with another informant was caught by Stasi officers. He conducts himself with an attitude for business when Bond shows up but he doesn't like the proposition of working with him given that he now walks with a limp once Bond shot him after finding out he was to betray the secondary informant by turning them over to KGB intelligence.
