A civil war widow that Helen befriends. Strong and spry for her age. She has grey-blonde hair and a wide smile. She is looked down upon in society for spending her days performing charity work in The Triangle. When Helen abandons her family over their shame about her work, she moves in with Mrs. Taunton, where she falls ill with a fever. Helen is kidnapped while Mrs Taunton is out, and she assumes Helen has returned to her family. She assists Helen and her friends in moving to Virginia, and rents them a home, but refuses to leave NY to go with them. She ends up murdered by a blow to the head in The Triangle by an alcoholic going through withdrawal. Aged 75-80.
