Fan Casting Harrowhark Nonagesimus

Role added by ravickan on February 25, 2022

Description of Harrowhark Nonagesimus:

the ninth necromancer Harrow is a scrawny teenage girl with black hair cut short (as befits someone in a monastery) and truly black eyes: [...] She has a pointed, rather triangular face, not very long, a triangular heart rather than a triangular diamond or oval. [....] She’s more femme-androgynous than outright butch; in Book 1 she’s a bit birdlike and free of specific masc or femme gender markers in terms of outfit or build. I imagined her as being mixed Māori.

  • libbyanderson Sasha Lane has the perfect small, pointed, youthful face for it. Cara Gee would be brilliant if she were younger, but it sounds like Harrow can be easily mistaken for 14 or 15 rather than 19. Cara Gee looks much older.
  • generatorabel My reasoning for the ethnicity of the actors I keep casting being all over the place: since Indigenous is often a broad term used by a lot of ethnic groups, like Aboriginal Australians, Imazighen Morrocans, Native Americans, and First Nations people, I am casting a variety of different Indigenous people. Okay, so the Michaela Jae thing was mainly because I'm sick of her not being in anything, and what better for her to be the love interest/future protonagonist in an adaptation of a lesbian and VERY gender sci fi? Off the advice of a friend, I chose Sasha Calle only telling them her description, but I'm genuinely unsure if Sasha Calle has Indigenous ancestry in her. Then, I saw Southeast Asian/Pacific Islander on the other Harrowhawk fancast page, and went scrambling for AAPI actresses, where I found Sidney Park. I know Nyla Rose is a stretch, but listen: pretty lady wrestler hot. Angel Haze has Indigenous (Creole, Cherokee, and Blackfoot) ancestry, and I love them so hey, why not. Last, I chose Rowan Blanchard off my assumption that Indigenous could mean Morrocan Amazigh people.
