Synopsis

Flight into the Abyss is a gripping six-part biopic miniseries that explores the tumultuous life and work of Joseph Roth, one of the most enigmatic and insightful writers of the early 20th century. Set against the backdrop of war-torn Europe and the crumbling Austro-Hungarian Empire, the series delves into Roth's experiences as a soldier, journalist, and novelist- capturing both the spirit of his literary genius and the personal demons that shaped his tragic journey. Description of Hedwig Baum (Vicki):

Hedwig "Vicki" Baum was an Austrian writer. She is known for the novel Menschen im Hotel ("People at a Hotel", 1929 — published in English as Grand Hotel), one of her first international successes. It was made into a 1932 film and a 1989 Broadway musical.
