Five Nights at Freddy's is an upcoming American supernatural horror film directed by Emma Tammi, who co-wrote it with Scott Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback, based on the video game series of the same name created by Cawthon. It stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Matthew Lillard. The film was first announced in April 2015, with the involvement of Warner Bros. Pictures. In June of the same year, Gil Kenan was announced as director and co-writer. After several delays in production, Warner Bros. entered the planned film into turnaround and Kenan dropped out of the project. In March 2017, it was announced Blumhouse Productions will produce the film. Chris Columbus was announced in February 2018 as Kenan's replacement as director and co-writer. Columbus also ultimately left the project, with Emma Tammi replacing him in October 2022. Principal photography took place from February to April 2023 in New Orleans. Five Nights at Freddy's is scheduled to be released simultaneously in theaters and on Peacock in the United States on October 27, 2023, by Universal Pictures.
