Sir Jacob Frye (born 1847) was a Master Assassin of the British Brotherhood during the Victorian era, and the younger twin brother of Evie Frye. He later became a member of Queen Victoria's's Order of the Sacred Garter, and the grandfather of Lydia Frye, an Assassin active during World War I. Originating from Crawley, Jacob and his sister were raised and trained by their widowed father Ethan in the Assassins' ways. Unlike the studious Evie, Jacob was dismissive of his father's teachings and relied more on his own thoughts and beliefs. This put a strain in his relationship with his father, whom Jacob eventually came to resent. Due to his preference for combat over stealth, he also tended to approach situations head-on and without much forethought, which often put him at odds with Evie due to their conflicting methods. Following his father's death from natural causes in 1868, Jacob, wishing to prove himself to the Brotherhood, accompanied Evie to London, against their superiors' wishes. There, they sought to liberate the city from the Templars' control and help the poverty-stricken masses. To accomplish this, they founded the Rooks, a criminal syndicate that opposed the Templar-backed Blighters. While Evie focused on pursuing a Shroud of Eden, Jacob assassinated various prominent Templars to destroy Grand Master Crawford Starrick's influence within the city. However, his actions often had unintended consequences that negatively affected London and its people, forcing his sister to fix them. Eventually, Jacob became aware of the chaos his reckless actions generated and the flaws in his idea of absolute personal freedom, and began adhering to the Creed's tenents more closely as a result. After he and Evie assassinated Starrick, Jacob stayed in London to rebuild the Brotherhood while his sister married fellow Assassin Henry Green and migrated with him to India. However, in 1888, Jacob sent a summons for his sister after one of his Assassin apprentices went rogue and seized control of the Rooks, using them to terrorize London as Jack the Ripper. Jacob was captured and tortured by Jack, who sought to usurp him as leader of the Brotherhood, but was eventually rescued by Evie after she had killed the Ripper, ending his reign of terror over the city. In 1892, the British authorities arrested Jacob for his decades of chaotic and reckless behavior, sentencing him to spend the remainder of his life behind bars because he hid the truth within 20 years in 1868 when his sister Evie had carried the weight of a Brotherhood he routinely dismantled with his own hands, "You lied to me," Evie said with her rage and fury. Jacob stood by the liquor cabinet, his frame heavier now, his face lined with the scars of a lifetime spent fighting dirty. He didn't look at her. "I did what was necessary for London, Evie. I freed the boroughs. Jacob said, "You crippled them!" Evie snapped, stepping into the lamplight. Her fury, suppressed for decades, finally broke. "You tore through this city with too much haste and far too little speed!. Ever since Maxwell Roth ever since you let your chaotic vanity blind you in '68, you have been a handicap to the Creed!. You are a bad liar, Jacob. You always have been." as Jacob shouts at Evie, "I built the Rooks!" he roared, his voice shaking the carriage walls as he stepped into her space, his eyes wild. "I bled for this city while you hid in your books and chased ghosts in India! You think you own the Creed? You think your neat little rules stop the Templars?. I gave everything to London!" Evie did not cover for her brother Jacob this time. She did not fix his mistakes. Later that very month in 1892, Scotland Yard finally caught up with the legendary, reckless brawler. Left without the shadows of the Brotherhood to shield him, Jacob was arrested for the decades of chaos, property destruction, and unauthorized warfare he had unleashed upon the capital.
