To many, Philip Masters is a rather unremarkable man. A simple maker of puppets and models, and amateur sculptor, who dotes on his step-daughter Alicia. In reality, though, Phil Masters is a possessive, jealous man, one who believes no-one is good enough for his little girl. Not even Yancy Street's resident tough on the outside sweet and gooey on the inside superhero, the Thing. Possessing unique psionic abilities that allow him to control the actions of people whose image he shapes from clay, Masters is willing to do anything to keep Alicia safe and happy... even if it's the wrong thing.
