When an experimental space voyage goes awry, four people are changed by cosmic rays. Reeda Richards, inventor and leader of the group gains the ability to stretch her body, and takes the name Mrs. Fantastic. Her boyfriend, Stew Storm, gains the ability to turn invisible and create force fields, calling himself the Invisible Man. His younger sister Jenny Storm gains the ability to control fire, including covering her own body with flame, becoming the Human Torch. Pilot Bea Grimm is turned into a super-strong rock creature calling herself Thing. Together, they use their unique powers to explore the strange aspects of the Negative Zone, and stop Annihilus from killing them and escaping into their reality.
