Synopsis

The year is 1964, and the world is caught in the grip of the Cold War. In the midst of the space race, a team of NASA researchers, lead by Dr. Reed Richards, are recruited on a top-secret mission to go to space. When their ship is sabotaged, they miraculously survive....but are gifted with extraordinary super powers. (Please check the character descriptions for specifics on how the characters fit into the story and their roles in it. I've made some very specific changes.)

Description of G.W. Bridge (Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.):

A veteran of World War II and a hardline anti-communist, as well as a personal friend of Lyndon B. Johnson. Wants to land an actual on-the-ground invasion force to topple the Communist Party of Latveria instead of just the Fantastic Four and the rebels; this is relegated to a last resort option only, as doing so could risk igniting World War III.
