Synopsis

Based on the author's own series known as the Tales of the Falklock Northern Railway which is inspired by the Railway Series and its television version of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, we get a Parks & Recreation/The Office look at life for all the engines of the railways keeping the Scottish island of Falklock running. Spanning a period from 1968 when steam power was abolished on the British mainland to 1993 when all British Railways were making plans to privatize, we see the female steam and diesel engines of this island in action as they grow and evolve to meet changing times. Engines like Gwyneth, Katie, Gloria, Willow, Linda, Yasmin and Yolanda keep the branch lines going as best as possible. On the main lines; Victoria, Sophie, Taylor, Quinn, Winnie, Wilma and Veronica keep trains going day and night to keep pace with the roadways and airlines that are facing some trying times.

Description of Willow the Pannier Tank Engine (FKNR #888):

Willow knows how to hold her own and tends to stand for no nonsense from any engines that might get ideas above their station and try to order her or others about; as a result of this and her strength, most tank engines look up to her. She enjoys running like clockwork, without problems or interruptions, making her a very efficient and loyal engine. Willow is cheerful, busy, mature and tends to bustle about. She is very proud of her noble Great Western heritage, often claiming that "there are two ways of doing things: the Great Western way, or the wrong way", occasionally to the annoyance of other engines. Willow is welcoming of newcomers, even most diesels as long as they are not rude.
