Synopsis

Based on the author's own series known as the Tales of the Falklock Northern Railway which is inspired by the Railway Series and its television version of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, we get a Parks & Recreation/The Office look at life for all the engines of the railways keeping the Scottish island of Falklock running. Spanning a period from 1968 when steam power was abolished on the British mainland to 1993 when all British Railways were making plans to privatize, we see the female steam and diesel engines of this island in action as they grow and evolve to meet changing times. Engines like Gwyneth, Katie, Gloria, Willow, Linda, Yasmin and Yolanda keep the branch lines going as best as possible. On the main lines; Victoria, Sophie, Taylor, Quinn, Winnie, Wilma and Veronica keep trains going day and night to keep pace with the roadways and airlines that are facing some trying times.

Description of Quinn the Brighton Mogul Engine (FKNR #555):

Quinn is very proud of her Caledonian blue paintwork. She disliked pulling trucks at first and could be narcissistic to think herself superior, shallow, boastful, overconfident, arrogant, prideful, naughty and vain, particularly to those who appear old-fashioned, weak, slow or dirty. In most cases, it would take a scolding from others to make her penny drop, and even then too late to prevent trouble. She was like this even before being repainted blue. However, on many occasions, she finds herself in need of help from those whom she has insulted and is, in the end, apologetic. Despite all of that, Quinn shows a caring side to her. She has a heart of gold and wants to help anyone in need.
