First appeared in Nick Fury vs. S.H.I.E.L.D. #3 in 1988 and was created by Bob Harras and Paul Neary. Alphonso Mackenzie was a C.I.A. agent who became their liaison to S.H.I.E.L.D. and later one of its agents. He is a main character in the ABC series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
