  • caitlyncarvalho why is the word "boricua" used instead of "puerto rican" I know that ethnic puerto ricans use that term to protect their hispanic identity from US Colonialism. The same reason why they have their own national anthem instead of star spangeld banner despite being a US Territory. These people clearly want freedom, however that doesn't mean that people are more used to them being called puerto ricans outside of puerto rico
