The grief-stricken Kate Pryde and Kurt Wagner, the last two surviving X-Men, reside in Cornwall, England, where they encounter Brian and Meggan Braddock, one of them being the fabled Captain Britain. Together, they form a team to protect the mythical Excalibur in Braddock's possession and keep the legacy of the X-Men alive.
