Mirabel's paternal grandfather who vanished searching for treasure. Augustin always thought his father abandoned him, but we learn Santiago was prevented from returning (I'm thinking he gets sick but that might be too dark). He is seen mostly in flashbacks but the spirit manifests to reconcile with Augustin at the end and tell his son how proud he is of the treasure he found (the madrigals) before departing.
