In an alternate universe, a young Bruce Wayne never became Batman. Instead, his parents survived the fateful night in Crime Alley, and Bruce grew up to become a successful businessman, running Wayne Enterprises. However, when a mysterious figure known as the Court of Owls threatens Gotham City, Bruce must don the mantle of the Dark Knight to protect his city from the shadowy organization's machinations. Along the way, he allies himself with former police chief Jim Gordon, who is investigating the Court, and Selina Kyle, a cat burglar with a past tied to the Court. As Bruce navigates the dangerous world of vigilantism, he must also contend with his complicated relationships with his friends and family, including his loyal butler Alfred, his childhood friend Harvey Dent, and his ex-girlfriend Vicki Vale. Along the way, Bruce also begins to discover secrets about his own family history, as well as the true nature of the Court of Owls' power.
