Salvatore "Sal" Maroni is a major crime boss in Gotham City, originally hailing from a poor Italian family. He's known for being a key figure in the city's organized crime, rivaling Carmine Falcone and ultimately disfiguring Harvey Dent, leading to Two-Face's origin, Maroni grew up in a neighborhood controlled by organized crime and worked as a busboy at Bamonte's restaurant, owned by a powerful crime family. Maroni formed a rivalry with Carmine Falcone, the head of the Falcone crime family and the top mob boss in Gotham. Maroni is known for throwing acid in the face of Harvey Dent, then a prosecutor, leading to his disfigurement and transformation into Two-Face.
