Backstory Before the bridge between imagination and reality opened, Derexen was a visionary scientist working on creative AI. He helped design the first technology that stabilized Animates so they could live in the Realborn world. But after witnessing chaos and unpredictability among early Animates — some violent, some broken — Derexen concluded that “pure imagination is dangerous.” He lost everything in an early “Animate revolt” that destroyed his research and left him scarred. Now he believes that control is the only way to save both worlds.
