In Dragon Ball Evolution, Grandpa Gohan is portrayed as a wise, caring figure who raises Goku after he is found as a baby. Though he is a loving and supportive guardian, Grandpa Gohan's life is cut short when he is tragically killed by the villain Piccolo.
