Kami is the Guardian of Earth. Originally a Namekian whose true name is unknown, Kami became the Guardian by expelling the evil from inside of him, making him pure good. However, the evil took a physical form in King Piccolo, something that Kami believes is his biggest mistake, and as such, believes he isn’t fit for the role as Guardian. Because the two are related, if one dies, so does the other. Kami is also the creator of the Dragon Balls. Eventually, Kami willingly fuses with Piccolo Jr to combat the threat of Cell. As a result, Dende takes Kami’s place.
