Shown in flashbacks. Michael is Sarah's father, a horrid, abusive drunk of a man who was cruel to his wife and daughter. He was abused by his own father growing up and turned to drinking early in life to deal with his pain, which only got worse over the years. He stopped for a period of time after getting married and landing a steady job, but after getting laid off went right back to his cruel ways. Sarah's not spoken to him since she left with Roy, and last she heard he was in the hospital dealing with a failing liver.
