For now, he runs the register at a 7-Eleven two blocks from his house. His parents have yet to pressure him about college, or even an actual career, in an effort to keep their lives simple, and in trusting that Martin will one day want more for himself. Without their knowing, Martin already heeds the future in fear, and is terrified of the day he’ll have to decide who he is.
