United against Nightmare, the pair defeat the dream tyrant and restore peace to the sleeping world. Before his defeat, however, Nightmare leaves Strange with a chilling warning: he is only the beginning. Greater beings - ancient gods and unimaginable horrors - are already aware of Earth's newest sorcerer. Strange dismisses the threat as the desperate words of a defeated enemy.
