Synopsis

Based on the original 1949 Suspense radio program of the same name. A husband and wife get into their car following a movie date. They begin driving home to their children, but are horrified to learn that an escape fugitive has taken refuge in the back of their car. Somewhere between theatre and home, the couple must figure out how to outsmart their desperate backseat driver. The plot twist will reveal that both Joe and Ellie Charles are off-duty police sergeants and the time the audience believes they are at the killer's mercy they are luring him into a trap.

Description of Sgt. Ellie Charles (The Wife):

Loving wife, all the time they have the convict behind them with his gun, her mind is on their children. She is the calmer half of the couple and keeps her husband from talking his way into a bullet. As a police officer she specializes in hostage negotiation and gets the killer talking and lures him into a sense of false confidence.
