Six months after the passing of her best friend and screenwriter Max, studio executive Ashley decides to honor her memory by putting the finishing touches on Max's lifelong passion project — a reboot of a cult classic experimental film. However, this move is met with derision from both fans of the movie, and Max's widower, Wyatt, whose late twin sister was one of the stars of the original. In spite of it all, Ashley is determined to fulfill her companion's dying wish, at the cost of a seemingly-unlimited number of things.
