Felonious Gru was one of the greatest criminal masterminds in the world, but now finds his reputation (and bank accounts) in peril when a younger villain steals The Great Pyramid of Giza. Gru and his minions plan to steal the Moon to get his mogo back, only to have the shrink-ray he stole to do this stolen from him by the same villain. Gru soon comes up with a plan to get the shrink-ray back by using some orphaned girls to pull it off, but things only prove to get for difficult for Gru from there.
