In an alternate universe, Joker tricks Superman into killing his wife Lois Lane, his unborn child, and all of Metropolis. Filled with rage and guilt Superman kills the Joker. Superman soon becomes a dictator over all the world, along with several Justice League members. But Batman along with other heroes form a rebellion against the man of steel.
